Bunker types compared

Block, underground, metal or Extra bunker – which one is right for you?

bunker24.lt offers four types of protective structures. Each has its own strengths, so there is no universal “best” solution. The table gives a brief comparative overview; you will find detailed information on each type's page. A comparison of all types with their models is on the Bunkers page.

What to look out for

Material and regulation

STR 2.07.02:2024 (Lithuanian construction technical regulation on the design and installation of shelters) provides that a shelter is designed in cast-in-situ or precast reinforced concrete or masonry. Therefore, where a shelter is mandatory under the regulation or state funding is being sought, we recommend block bunkers. Extra bunkers are quick-access shelters; we do not declare their compliance with the STR. Metal and corrugated steel solutions are suitable for private use and additional protection, but they should not be regarded as a shelter installed within the meaning of the STR.

Block bunkers

Shelter for collective protection

Block bunkers are our main line for institutions and also the most flexible solution. Massive reinforced concrete blocks make it possible to build an above-ground, partly buried or earth-covered shelter for 10 to 90 people, and our structural engineers adapt the layout to the plot and terrain. Certified blast-resistant doors (4.4 bar) are installed, and if necessary the structure can be dismantled and the blocks reused elsewhere.

Underground bunkers

Blast shelter for private and business use

Underground bunkers are made in various diameters and lengths. The entrance can be vertical, inclined or through a door at the end of the tank.

Metal bunkers

Blast shelter for private and business use

Metal bunkers are a quickly manufactured underground blast shelter for private and business use, with a vertical or inclined entrance. Standard models are always coated externally with polyurethane foam and waterproofing and fitted with ventilation.

Extra bunkers

For quick shelter

Extra bunkers are delivered ready-fitted: with protective doors and outlets for ventilation and electricity. They do not need to be buried.

Not sure which type to choose?

Our engineers will assess the number of people, the plot and the timeline, and then suggest one or more suitable options.
